Rick has worked on a wide variety of projects as lead software engineer. This includes enterprise-level applications as well as kernel-level security applications as senior software engineer at MCI. For fun he writes games, especially ones with intense Artificial Intelligence.
Rick has been a prolific writer with 23 books under his belt. In addition, he has written hundreds of print articles and hundreds of online articles.
Rick has a distinguished career as speaker and trainer. He has more than 18 years of university teaching, dozens of speaking engagements, and numerous conference appearances.
Rick started life as a musician, playing in the Miami philharmonic. Beginning as an undergraduate, he has written hundreds of fine pieces of music for large orchestra, small ensemble, and soloists.
He recently wrote a song cycle based on Rumi writings for a competition.
Rick does research on a regular basis. Much of it is within the area of data compression. He also researches computer assisted music composition, and is currently writing about Hindemith music composition and the Schillinger system of musical composition.
